I’m still a designer, yes - but I’m now also writing for Lost at E Minor

Posted by Greta in Portfolio - 15 June 2010

It’s confusing, so I feel it needs to be clarified. Though my day job still consists of design and art direction - I’m also now a regular contributor for online publication, Lost at E Minor. With 260,000 hits per month - the site is a portal for all things design, art and pop-culture. Check, check it out.

Exposed: at the Tate Modern

Posted by Greta in Exhibitions - 15 June 2010

‘Exposed’ explores the world of voyeurism, surveillance and the camera. A bit hard going at times, the exhibition ranges from paparazzi shots of Marylin Monroe, to lynching scenes and Satellite shots of Afghanistan. To say it’s a broad collection would be an understatement. The highlight for me was a collection of home-made cameras from the late 19th century, that disguised themselves in shoes, watches, canes and coat pockets, and made for some timeless candid shots that would otherwise never have been possible.

Shaping a generation - 50 Years of the Pill

Posted by Greta in Portfolio - 10 May 2010

To celebrate 50 Years of the Pill, I was asked to design a carousel device to present inspirational stories of women as seen in recent issues of several magazines. The approach involves a concertina navigation, zoom and panning controls - to allow publications to keep their individual look and feel whilst still presenting a cohesive collection. Click on the image for flat designs, and come back soon for the live, real deal.

Meet Trip

Posted by Greta in Photos - 29 March 2010

The Olympus Trip 35… a legend of his time, he and his brethren were made by the millions between 1967 and 1984. You know how every now and then the stars align, choruses sing, rainbows shoot from the sky, and a brand gets a product truly right? Well, I’m told this is a product of such creations. Can’t wait to start playing with it.

Sock owls are a hoot

Posted by Greta in Uncategorized - 31 January 2010

Excuse the ridiculously poor pun, I just couldn’t help myself. The sis and I had a lovely little craft-night-lock-in on Friday and made these soft-toy sock owls. Are they not the cutest things you’ve ever seen? the coolest things you’ve ever seen? well whatever your take, I love them.

The idea (and materials) were all provided by one of Claire Waring’s Craft Schmaft kits. The awkward stitching and dodgy fabric cutting provided by yours truly!

Sculpture by the Sea

Posted by Greta in Exhibitions - 13 November 2009

It’s that time of the year in old Sydney town, when the Bondi to Tamarama beach walk gets hijacked by artists and supporters, wreaking havoc on the jogging and local community. But we can’t begrudge Sculpture by the Sea, as it delivers new concepts, statements and interpretations of our environment, and brings profile and interest to the art community. Finishing this weekend, here are some of my favourites.

The Dalston mill

Posted by Greta in Exhibitions - 4 August 2009

One of the coolest things I’ve seen in this town, “the experimental architectural collective” EXYZT have transformed a vacant lot in the backstreets of dingy Dalston (aka home) into a fully functioning mill. Complete with a wheat field, windmill, pedal-powered music, and bread ovens, you can roam at leisure around the lot, make yourself a pizza, grab a drink and take in the scenery. The E8 has done itself proud.
